Barry School "Hive"
ASES After School Program
The After School Program "The Hive" is funded through a grant called the ASES or After School Education and Safety Grant. Our grant was extended through the school year 2016/2017. Due to the fact that we have received this funding, at this time we will not be charging a fee.
The Hive will commence immediately upon the conclusion of the school day and remains open until 6:00 P.M., starting on the first day of school and ending on the last day. Hive will be open every school day including minimum days and will be closed on school holidays. Kindergarten starts at 12:25 P.M.
Anyone wishing to attend needs fill out all of the forms created by the district (Enrollment, Student Release, Early Release) as well as the Acknowledgement Contract and the Selection Sheet. You will need to fill out forms and return them.
We will not be able serve as many students as we have in the past. A 150 students will be accepted into the program. Students are admitted into the program based on need and then in the order in which their enrollment forms were received, until the program reaches its student capacity. Students whose enrollment forms are received after the program has reached capacity are added to the programs waiting list, by needs in the order in which their enrollment forms are received. As space becomes available, students from the waiting list will be invited to enroll in the Hive.
The Hive after school program will consist of three components: homework help, recreation, and enrichment. It is critical that your child attend the first two hours of the program daily, Regular attendance is required, so that they do not risk being cut from the program.
